Who Are You Now?
Since doing my dissertation I’ve found myself really enjoying communication people, fashion and relationships. Especially looking at figures and their interaction with other people and their environments. I think these things can easily be applied to both editorial, advertising and products which is something I’m really interested in and will show real diversity within my portfolio. I’m also really interested in promoting health and well-being so I’m looking to apply my work to editorial articles and podcast that surround these themes.
Future Practice?
I enjoy creatively working alone in my practice however applying my work to other industries such as exhibitions in bars so I think collaboration will come into my networking. I have a lot of experience in retail and enjoy visual merchandising so that’s something I want to focus on in terms of working to earn money and being financially independent as a graduate. I also want to work towards making products for print and craft fairs which will inform my freelance work mainly.
Research:
I want to research and make connections with retail businesses in order to get involved with visual merchandising and art direction within a store. Eg. John Lewis, Cos, & Other Stories.
I also need to research into creating an online presence that will benefit the professionalism and branding to take to print fairs and show opportunities.
What Do I Need To Grow?
- online social media presence
- small exhibitions to showcase work (invite creatives from Leeds for networking)
- Craft & Print Fairs
- Website
